Hollywood Screening of Kids With Cameras

What a great Christmas present!

The screening of Kids With Cameras was a big hit in Los Angeles on December 17, 2009. Here's a glimpse into this extraordinary film, featuring autistic kids achieving great success.

Kids with Cameras

Have I mentioned lately how much I love my life? :-)

Being exposed to perpetual negativity for more than 20 years in my journalism career, I can't adequately express how much my life has improved since making the decision to make a positive change in my life.

I am honoured to be aligned now with a company of integrity that produces a constant outflow of positive media. Here's an example of our award-winning productions.

Funny Marketing Spoof

I've just discovered Todd Falcone, a network marketing guy who has a great style. He does a lot of training on YouTube, and a friend just sent me this spoof Todd did on network marketing. It's one of the funniest skits I've seen in a long time. Enjoy!

Create/Write a PDF E-Book

I just love what I do every day... working with a bunch of successful entrepreneurs who freely offer mentorship. What a great environment!

I downloaded an e-book recently, and thought what a great idea it would be to offer free e-books on my website. I expressed my desire to learn this skill, and a colleague simply said, "that can be your first e-book... how to write an e-book."

All of our opportunities come through other people! Thanks, Andy :-)

I went in search of a tutorial that offered the info, and I'd like to share this great find on YouTube with you. Happy e-book writing/creating!

Best Year Ever

An icon of the personal development industry passed away last week. Jim Rohn had a unique style of getting the message across to hundreds of thousands of people, and he most certainly influenced many people to improve the quality of their lives... including me. Bless you, Mr. Rohn.

Wishing you your best year ever!

Unconditional Success?

What is success? How do you define it?

I've had what was perceived as great success in my journalism career, but I never really felt successful. I've since learned that I wasn't feeling successful because I was conflicted in my consciousness with what I was doing and what I believed was ethical. I was disillusioned with the media, and I felt conflicted about my association with what I believed to be an industry that lacked integrity.

I finally made a decision to follow my heart, and I left my long-time career... something that had, at the time, defined me for my entire adult life.

Nowadays, I am grateful to immerse myself in positive media, and my work is now rewarding and fulfilling as I assist and encourage many people to improve their lives and their financial situation.

I am happy to now finally feel successful... and as Nick Williams writes in his amazing work, "success is about learning to receive and give, and unconditional success is both an inside and an outside job."

Wishing you unconditional success!

Network Marketing

Have you read Robert Kiyosaki´s book, Rich Dad Poor Dad? It's a book that should be a requisite read for every 15 year old. I can remember being 15, and thinking I knew everything :-) And, then I ended up doing something that made me miserable for over twenty years!

Hope this info helps you in your decision to take control of your financial future.

Goal Setting

I spent a lot of my life "wishing" for better results in my life. It wasn't until I was introduced to (and actually used) the SMART system, that I actually began to see the tangible results that I had previously been wishing for in my life.

I also find that goal-setting and achieving works best for me when I add my emotion to the mix, combined with my visualizations and affirmations. So, I set my SMART goal and then I imagine what I will feel like once I've achieved it. I'm very specific in my imagination... feeling the emotions, hearing the conversations I'll be having, seeing what I'll look like, etc. It always helps to add an affirmation that I can repeat numerous times throughout the day, and I always keep it in a positive, present tense... i.e. "I am so happy and grateful now that I am living in Spain."

Good luck with your SMART goals!

Inspiring Words

I like to keep close at hand a quick read of inspiration, to boost my spirit throughout the day.

I was honoured to meet Bo Welt recently in Hawaii, and received a signed copy of her wonderful book of poetry (Boetry).

What I love about Bo's book is that there are poems that address areas of our lives that can often pose challenges.... things like guilt, blame, change, criticism. And then there are short stanzas of inspiration about appreciation, hope and love.

I find, regardless of what I may be feeling, when I pick up Boetry and read the corresponding poem of a particular emotion, I can close the book a few minutes later feeling more certain about my purpose.

Our Invisible Power

Having committed to maintain a personal development structure in my life, I regulary pose some questions to myself...

Am I living a resigned life, or am I living my vision? Is my vision clearly defined? Are my actions in alignment with where I want to be?

I'm reading an incredible little book, "Your Invisible Power," and I say little because it's only 80 pages.... but, they sure are powerful pages.

Here's my favourite excerpt: "My mind is a center of Divine operation. The Divine operation is always for expansion and fuller expression, and this means the production of something beyond what has gone before, something entirely new, not included in the past experience, though proceeding out of it by an orderly sequence of growth. Therefore, since the Divine cannot change its inherent nature, it must operate in the same manner with me; consequently, in my own special world, of which I am the center, it will move forward to produce new conditions, always in advance of any that have gone before."

Vibrational Harmony

I absolutely love this, and use it to remind me to stay focused. A powerful message, coupled with peaceful video and a musical favourite of mine... Barber's Adagio.

Esther's voice is very strong, so you'll likely need to adjust the volume (the little megaphone symbol at the bottom-right of the video).

Enjoy, and FEEL GOOD. You deserve it :-)

Vibes... Good/Bad

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of "The Secret," the book/movie that underlines the laws of the Universe (everything is energy... and energy is everything).

I was surprised to learn that there was a significant 7 minutes left out of The Secret movie.

I was fortunate to have been raised by a single Dad who always told me I could "achieve what I believe." I've always believed that positive thoughts and actions brought positive results (as I've proven in my life time after time).

That's why I now love my work... spending time with people who often didn't have the benefit of having a positive influence in their lives during their formative years.

We can collectively learn and earn in a positive environment, filled with positive media and positive people.

Wishing you lots of positive vibes!

American Sensitivities

There's been a lot of fuss made this week over Harry Connick Jr.'s guest appearance on an Australian TV show called "Hey Hey It's Saturday," a reunion show that featured a parody performance group doing a tribute to the Jackson Five. This same group did an almost exact tribute on the same show 20 years ago, when they were all medical students.

As you will see, the performance is simply BAD; neither funny, nor entertaining, but is it racist to paint your face black for a performance nowadays?

When the host apologized, Connick said, "we've spent so much time trying to not make black people look like buffoons." That comment may suggest that black people needed as much help as possible to elevate them from "buffoon" status in America. To me, that comment sounds a tad racist... but, it's all about perspective, isn't it?

I'm grateful to be alive to witness, hopefully, America's evolution with its first black President. I'm also hopeful that many of the folks who leave comments on YouTube will evolve into educated people one day :-)

I Gotta Feelin'

There are a lot of things I miss about Canada... my family, my friends, English television :-)

Actually, I didn't watch a lot of TV in Canada. When I did make an effort to watch anything, it was normally Oprah or Ellen. I could usually count on a feel-good moment, whenever I tuned into their shows.

It's hard to believe Oprah is kicking off her 24th year of production. As part of the celebration, Chicago coordinated a flash-dance of 21,000 people to the Black Eyed Peas, "I Got A Feeling." It was an amazing collaboration.

It would be great if we could get those same 21,000 people to participate in a group meditation for world peace and abundance for all. Four-thousand people proved group meditation worked, in a 1993 study to reduce violent crime in Washington, DC. In a 2-month controlled study period, the violent crime rate was reduced by 48%, as the result of the focused and consistent thoughts of 4-thousand people to reduce stress and increase coherence in the District. Amazing, eh?

Here's wishing you increased coherence and reduced stress.

We Are Good Enough

I'm reading a great book by Nick Williams....

As I persist in this journey of personal growth, I'm contemplating self-belief (or, as I've discovered, my lack of it). I spent the bulk of my adult life as a journalist, and was perceived as having all the trappings of success. But, I never actually felt successful.

In his book, Nick says (and I'm paraphrasing here), "so much of the world of personal development is founded upon the idea that we are broken and need fixing. We are forever trying to get to an imaginary finish line where someone gives us a medal that says we are now finally good enough."

So, my question is, when do we finally feel good enough?

I'm practicing daily affirmations, to replace my limiting beliefs with empowering ones. I also make it a point to fill my day with as many positive thoughts and images as possible.

Enjoy the following couple of minutes, and maybe think about your own list of affirmations.

Know For Yourself

False and misleading information is everywhere. I can't even check my email without being inundated with bad news headlines.

Most of our news is now delivered and controlled by three American conglomerates. The concentration of media ownership tends to fuel biased reporting, and - more often - it is designed to instill doubt, fear, and a general sense of unknowingness in society.

Corporate downsizing is common-place, and is merely an economic tactic to place a ceiling on the incomes of the workers who actually DO all the work.

Never before have people been so eager to experience a breakthrough than right now. People are more educated, and less likely to tolerate these volatile days of corporate manipulation.

It's been wonderful to observe the impact the Know For Yourself DVD is having on the marketplace. The Polaris Media Group's 60-minute feature details how a person can break free from the inundation of false and misleading information.

Know For Yourself is now in second production, with an additional 100,000 copies each available in English and English with Spanish subtitles. The demand for this information has been incredible.

The ability to Know for Yourself is paramount to success. It is the core of fundamental decision making, and a person’s ability to choose for themselves a path for their own personal success and fulfillment.

Rather than seeking, or following, a guru (and the personal development marketplace is filled with them – divorcees giving marriage advice, failed businessmen giving success advice, etc.), a person can develop their own personal ability to be their own guru and have the confidence of their own knowingness.

A wise young man once said that opportunities come through other people.

Please take this opportunity to Know For Yourself... your personal coupon is 144306.

Overcoming Obstacles

Recently, in a televised dance competition - a unique couple won one of the top prizes and received the longest standing ovation.

She was a dancer, who had trained since she was a child. Tragically, she lost her entire arm in an accident and fell into a state of depression. She decided to coach a children's dancing group. From that point on, she realized she could not forget dancing. She still loved to dance and wanted to dance again. She tried to do some of her former routines, but - without her arm - she had difficulty maintaining balance. She practiced strenuously and developed a dance routine - always dancing alone in her studio.

He was not a dancer. He lost a leg in an accident and he had fallen into a deep state of depression. They met - and her goal immediately became to help him become positive about life again. She taught him to dance, and in her studio they danced together and developed a routine as their lives and friendship became closer. Their life together - behind the closed doors of the dance studio - was one creativity, challenge, determination, practice, and sometimes failure. Their focus was on doing what others said would be impossible. Several times it became so difficult and frustrating for them that they gave up, broke up.

But life alone, without each other, brought them back together again and they became even more determined to perfect a dance routine to a point where they might try to dance outside the studio to see what friends and family thought about what they were doing all that time inside the studio. Their friends and family were so supportive, they encouraged the couple to enter a dance competition. Only later did they realize the competition was to be televised locally.

We will now see the first and, to date, only televised performance of their dance...

Wishing you a wonderful day!

Some Excellent Reading

People often ask me what kind of books I enjoy, so here are a few of my favourites.

Scott Peck's book was my first journey into personal growth. I was in my late teens at the time (and not even sure what prompted me to buy it), but it certainly changed the course of my life.

John Lavenia's book is incredible for anyone who is ready to hear and accept the truth about success and failure. I work with John. He's certainly a man who lives by his words.

Eckhart's book is an awakening. I'm now reading his follow-up, A New Earth, for the third time.

Gotta love them spires

Lance and I just returned from a weekend in Barcelona. I spent Saturday in an intense 12-hour conference, while Lance put on some walking shoes and covered the City of Barcelona. Yep, he was about as exhausted as I was, at the end of the day. Well, okay... he was probably a tad more tired than I was :-)

There is an abundance of architecture in Barcelona influenced by Gaudi (and, you either love him or hate him). One thing's for sure... he sure did love his spires.

You can see the entire photo album of Barcelona on facebook http://www.facebook.com/ I'm pretty sure I've set up my settings so anyone can view my pics: tanya macintyre

Finally... a GOOD NEWS network

When I packed up my career in journalism, most of my friends were shocked. How could I walk away from what had essentially been my lifeblood for more than 20 years?

Well, it was actually pretty easy.

I had become literally sick of being immersed in bad news everyday. I took a 6-week medical leave from my job as news director, and did some serious searching while I healed my disillusioned soul. I was searching for meaning, for substance, for the answer to "who am I?"

Other questions I posed to myself during this time were...

Do I love my life?
What do I stand for?
Am I the best possible person I can be?
If I could have anything in the World what would it be?

I often said to people, "if anyone ever starts a "good news" network, I'll be the first one in line to join."

It was no coincidence that brought me to where I am today... living in Spain with my Prince of a husband; living a life of freedom and abundance, and now belonging to a group of remarkably successful and generous entrepreneurs.

I am truly blessed to be part of this global movement that will enrich countless lives in countless ways.

The official launch is set for September 9th (09/09/09).

Team Europe's pre-launch is in Barcelona on September 5th. You can get the event details on my website.

We Are All Connected

I received a forwarded email today from a Canadian friend. I normally don't even open these kinds of emails, but I opened this one for some reason (and I believe "everything" happens for a reason).

This email-forward contained one of those whiny rants - put together by someone with way too much time on their hands - wanting everyone to spread their collective outrage about the Canadians of Hindu origin requesting that the Canadian Anthem be sung in Hindi during the 2010 Olympics.

The gist of this email was presented as a concerned Canadian wanting to preserve Canadian "culture."

With Canada being such a young Country, I worry that my native land is sounding more like a land of division and narrow definitions. Canada was born as a land of immigrants... people who fled from other less-hospitable places seeking freedom.

I hope "the message" can be heard and appreciated.

We are all connected.

Create Your Tomorrow

I always seem to have a better day, when I start off with inspiring words.

I have this neat desktop scroll from The Secret. You can get yours here on this link: http://thesecret.tv/

Here's another nice message to kick-start your day (while you're waiting for your own Secret Scrolls to arrive :-)

Everyday, when I sit in front of my computer... before I do anything... I'll read the daily message from my Secret Scrolls. Today's message was especially meaningful, and I wanted to share it with you:

Tonight, when you're in bed, go over your day in your head just before you fall asleep. Feel gratitude for all the good moments. If there was something you wanted to happen differently, replay it in your mind the way you wanted it to go. As you fall asleep, say..."I will sleep deeply and wake up full of energy. Tomorrow is going to be the most beautiful day of my life."

Here's to all our great tomorrows!

My First Bullfight

I had never really given much thought to bullfighting, before moving to Spain.
I remember my nephew wanting to watch his bullfighting videos once in awhile, but I attributed that to his condition of William's Syndrome (he always wanted to see the bull win, and the videos didn't show the bull being hurt in any way).
So, it was actually with my nephew, Tyler, in mind that I decided to take my camera along to my friend's apartment yesterday. She's in the process of moving, and she has a fabulous panoramic view from her top terrace (which also happens to overlook Alcudia's Plaza de Toros - the bullring). There was a bullfight scheduled for 6PM, and I was there with my camera ready. There was a small contingent of protesters across the street, shouting "toros, si... toredos, no."

There was also a lot of pomp and circumstance in preparation for the big spectacle... a marching band, horses being primped with ribbons (after having been tied to the side of a transport truck in the scorching sun for 10 hours prior), men dressed in tightly-fitted suede suits with matching hats... riding the exhausted horses into the ring, etc.
Needless to say, I didn't stay on the terrace long enough to see the bull killed. It was enough to see the frightened, dazed bull being pierced twice in his shoulders with long arrows, adorned with flowing ribbons, thrown from a man on top of a horse (hardly a great skill). I'm told this spectacle continues, to a cheering crowd, until the bull is repeatedly pierced, taunted, and exhausted.
Finally, a guy with a sword plunges it between the bull's shoulders, behind his head, to deliver the fatal blow.
I think if I'm around for Alcudia's next bullfight, I'll likely be joining the folks across the street, trying to shout some sense into the people who find this barbaric practice entertaining.

Our home in Spain

We always tend to take what we have, and where we live, for granted.

When we lived in Nova Scotia, we rarely travelled around The Cabot Trail (World-reknowned for its scenic beauty).

When we lived in Ontario, the only time we went to Niagra Falls was when friends or family from another Province or Country came for a visit.

Now we live in beautiful Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands of Spain. We're in a northern city called Alcudia, which is an original, walled city of historic significance.

We were reminded of how lucky we were to live in such an ideal spot, when friends came to visit this week. They were in awe of the beauty and history of the town, as were other friends who came to visit in June.

So, with these reminders in mind... I vow to be grateful for what I have, and where I live, EVERY DAY.

Have a great, and grateful, weekend!

Life in Spain

I’m often asked what it’s like to live in Spain.

Well, it’s certainly been a cultural - and language - adjustment, no doubt about it.

Culturally, the people are steeped in what has often been a violent history. It’s currently a very Catholic environment here in Mallorca (the largest of the Balearic Islands). It makes for very interesting holidays (fiestas), and it seems that there’s a celebration every month in the name of one Saint or another. It’s hard to keep track, there are so many. My husband tells me that Mallorca workers enjoy 21 paid fiesta holidays per year + their basic 2-wk holiday. Nice, eh?

The language adjustment is ongoing. There is a large English-speaking population living on the Island, so there is little opportunity to learn and practice Spanish (unless one makes a concentrated effort with private lessons).

Like immigrant populations anywhere, we seem to gravitate towards one another, and stick together… which is not at all conducive to living a full and productive life in a society that speaks a different language.

It’s especially trying when you encounter problems with your telephone/internet connection, because the company that holds the monopoly on the telecommunications infrastructure here in Spain, Telefonica, is typically uncooperative to English-speaking customers.

I’m actually not too bad at communicating in Spanish, until it comes time to talk to someone on the phone. That’s a whole new challenge, because Spanish people tend to speak very fast (although I've had Spanish/English-speaking people tell me that I speak fast in English). I guess it was all those years on radio, when I had to fit a news story into a 30 or 60-second blip.

So, the latest language challenge for me, while living here in Mallorca, was to set an appointment for a technician to come attend to our phone and internet connection problems. I’m not sure if I got the time right, so I'll just hang around all day to see if someone shows up. Heh, heh, heh.

Running with Scissors

I was chopping up some fruit this morning for my breakfast, and a thought popped into my mind.

Were you ever told, as a child, to never run while holding a knife or scissors? I was even told, if I was going to walk while carrying scissors, to always hold them points-down (nobody mentioned this was a terrible way to hold scissors if you were prone to dropping things).

It's interesting how our thinking is programmed from such an early age.

I think that's why I loved The Pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith about protecting our dreams

I remember being in high school and asking a guidance counsellor for help in applying to be a flight attendant (I think they were called stewardesses back then), because I wanted to travel the World, She said, "that's no vocation for a lady." When I went home and told my family what she said, my aunt replied, "well, she's right... why would you want to be a glorified waitress?"

Until tomorrow, I'll leave you with a wonderful quote from William James (1842-1910), "The greatest revolution in our generation is the discovery that human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives."
So, DREAM BIG :-)

House Full of Cats

My husband just phoned me to say he was greeted this morning by a house full of cats. "A houseful of cats?," I said, "you're not serious?" The houseful of cats turned out to be TWO. When I suggested that he was grossly exaggerating, he said... "two strange cats and ours make three... that's a houseful. When the number of cats outnumber the number of humans in a house, that's a houseful!"

I, obviously, need to make sure all our windows are closed before heading to bed in future.

The weather continues to be beautiful here in Mallorca. Sunny days range in the low 30´s, and nights cool off to low 20's. There's a wonderful, fresh cross-breeze at night when I open the front window and back door. Just have to remember to close the front window from now on:-) Wouldn't want Lance waking up to another "houseful" of cats anytime soon!

Gratitude

No matter what's happening in my life, I spend the first few minutes of every morning expressing gratitude for all the great things in my life.
We create our reality, in more ways than one.
We can express gratitude for anything... our family, our friends, a song, the weather, a flower, a pet, our favourite sweater/cardigan:-) Anything!
I always shoot for at least 10 gratitude expressions every day.
Today, I'm grateful for:
my healthy & youthful body
my smooth & blemish-free skin
my fabulous husband
our wonderful townhouse in Spain
our terrific neighbours
my beautiful family in Canada
our positive-thinking friends
my weird & wonderful cat, Trueno
my favourite black, linen pants/trousers with the pockets that are soooo comfy
my pilates instructors for providing ongoing motivation to stay in shape

There, that was easy. And, now the Universe has ten more positive thoughts in the energy field which will reflect back to me ALL DAY! How great is that!

Powers of the Universe

All the powers of the Universe are already ours.
It is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark.
We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think.
Words are secondary.
Thoughts live; they travel far.
When an idea exclusively occupies the mind, it is transformed into an actual physical or mental state.
We reap what we sow.
We are the makers of our own fate.
Noone else has the blame, noone has the praise.
There is no help for you outside of yourself;
you are the creator of the Universe.
Like the silkworm, you have built a cocoon around yourself...
Burst your own cocoon and come out as the beautiful butterfly, as the free soul.
Then alone you will see Truth.
In one word, this ideal is that you are divine.
God sits in the temple of every human body.
-Swami Vivekananda (1863 - 1902)

Getting Rich in Personal Development

Former Canadian journalist packs in a 20-year career of being immersed in bad news!
